Today’s top five things to do in Summit County

A show from artist Alex Alvis, including this piece, titled "Magical," will be on display at Art on a Whim Gallery in Breckenridge through the end of March. With exaggerated features and unique patinas, Alvis’ work in bronze has catapulted her to the forefront of contemporary equine sculptors. Sculpture of any kind, and particularly wildlife sculpture, is at its finest when each piece speaks to the soul of the animals the artist has created. Capturing the animal’s spirit allows the piece to strike its viewers on deep, emotional levels, just as artwork should. Alvis has mastered this difficult task. Art on a Whim Gallery is located at 100 N. Main St. in Breckenridge. For more information, visit, or call (970) 547-8399.
