Dillon Town Clerk Adrienne Stuckey swore in three new town council members Tuesday night, March 25.
Incoming council members Barbara Richard, Joshua Samuel and Linda Oliver were sworn in at the council meeting. The three new council members were picked in a special election that concluded March 4.
The special election had been scheduled after town residents circulated petitions calling for the recall of previous council members Dana Christiansen, Renee Imamura and John Woods, who were later successfully recalled by voters during the special election.
The recall effort followed hot on the heels of a referendum election held last fall, where Dillon residents voted to overturn approval of a structure with three restaurants, 200 condominium units and retail space proposed by Developer Jake Porrit.
The petitioners who initiated the recall effort said Christiansen, Imamura and Woods, who had voted for Porritt’s project, had failed to listen to constituents, showed a lack of decorum and failed to uphold the town charter’s requirements that government be responsive to the needs of citizens.
