Town of Frisco gives more than $150,000 to nonprofits

FRISCO – More than 25 nonprofit organizations will receive $156,680 in funding from the town of Frisco in 2006.In November, town staff reviewed applications for funding, and then the council decided how the funds were to be divided and distributed. The town traditionally funds the Frisco Historical Society and recently increased that organization’s funding to $51,000. In 2006, approximately $57,000 from the lodging tax will be directed to the Frisco Information Center. In 2006, $5,000 in scholarships will be awarded to high school students whose families are residents of Frisco. Students are encouraged to apply for these scholarships through the counseling office at Summit High School.In addition to the organizations listed above, the town will distribute a total of $48,680 to various nonprofits.
