ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK — Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is officially closed for the winter season.
The highway, which connects Estes Park on the east and Grand Lake on the west, was closed Tuesday, and snow drifts have begun to build at higher elevations.
The road is billed as the highest continuous paved road in the United States, reaching 12,183 feet above sea level. It typically reopens in late May.
