Tricia Wilson: Peak Tennis in the Mountains

Tricia Wilson

I am writing to applaud the “peak” tennis facilities and tennis programs offered at the Breckenridge Recreation Center. My husband and I recently rented a Dillon condo for two months, coming up from the Denver area for long weekends so he could enjoy skiing. I do not downhill ski and expected to spend a lot of time in the condo until I discovered the Breck Rec Center had two indoor tennis courts, fun weekend tennis drills, and the excellent tennis pros – John, Tim and Shawn. As an active and avid tennis player in Denver, I was thrilled to find quality courts and an over-abundance of great tennis players “up in the mountains.” My only complaint was there were only two indoor courts which were always in demand and hard to book for lessons or play. I heard there were also a couple of indoor courts at Keystone, but they were currently housing golf carts for the winter – shame, shame!

We enjoyed Summit County so much we hope to retire there in the future. Investors take note and get a big indoor tennis complex built there soon! Yes, winter draws the skiers but from my short time in your area an abundant number of Summit County tennis players deserve more indoor courts to “get their game on!”
