Trieste: Colorado is not entitled to snow
The subject article by Jessica Smith was very interesting; however, it contained a misleading statement. The statement, “This means that the Colorado Basin currently has just over half of the amount of snow it should have and just over 10 percent less than it had at the same time last year.” There is no such thing as the amount of snow an area should have. An average snow amount is not what is to be expected nor what there should be in any year. It is simply an average based on historic records.
