Tuel is innocent

Laura Komeshian

In response to the March 30 front-page Summit Daily News headline – it should have read “Dale Tuel is innocent, case finally dropped.”

In response to Breckenridge Police Chief Rick Holman, how can you show conduct and arousal? If he could get inside Dale’s head he would not find intent, because nothing happened.

If he could get inside Dale’s head he would feel the pain and suffering Dale has been put through due to false accusations. He would find an innocent man who is great with kids and has lost the opportunity to do a job that he has dedicated the last 15 years of his life to.

Personally, I have lost respect for the Breckenridge Police Department. They treated Dale like a criminal – as if he were guilty before he was even charged. He was totally cooperative and answered all of their questions. The “alleged” victim and her family have been fully supportive of Dale. They saw someone being wrongly accused and came forward to let the truth be known.

I am happy the case has finally been dropped, but it should be known that Dale is innocent. Someone should admit to actually making a mistake. This was not a case where the crime occurred, but the evidence was insufficient to support conviction and it was dismissed, as the assistant DA alluded to.

This was a case where an innocent man has been put thought hell, lost his job, and his name and reputation tarnished.

I think he deserves a public apology, to be reinstated to his former position and to be recognized in this community as the innocent man he is.
