FRISCO – Palm fronds may someday sway alongside pine boughs at Frisco Marina.Bobby and Stephanie Kato, co-owners of Tuscato Ristorante on Frisco’s Main Street, are exploring the possibility of offering casual Pacific Rim fare to marina-goers and bikers through a future restaurant at the marina.

“I feel a lot of enthusiasm by the town, it’s a great location with great views, and it could be a really nice amenity and an extension of Main Street,” Bobby Kato said. “With all the town is delivering (in marina improvements), it will be a nice site and a good opportunity, and that’s why we pursued it.”The town has agreed to negotiate with the Katos to work out the details, including the facility which will house the restaurant.

Assistant town manager Theresa Casey said the tentative plan is to have the operation running out of a temporary structure by the Fourth of July, while a permanent facility is under construction.Kato said the scale of the short-term facility will determine the scope of offerings for this summer.

“Right now, we’re having preliminary talks that are pretty basic. There are so many steps we have to go through before we can decide anything,” Kato said.Julie Sutor can be reached at (970) 668-3998, ext. 203, or at jsutor@summitdaily.com.
