The Frisco Recreation Department is once again offering canvas-painting parties in partnership with local artist Sheila Trowbridge on Thursday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Frisco Adventure Park Day Lodge.

This is a unique way to take a break from outdoor adventures and holiday activities and relax in front of a canvas while Trowbridge guides participants through the painting process. All ability levels, including “never picked up a paintbrush in my life,” are welcome, and at the end, participants will walk away with their very own piece of art. During the Thursday, Dec. 18 class, participants will paint a starry night ski scene in celebration of the upcoming winter solstice on Sunday, Dec. 21. On Saturday, Dec. 27, class participants will paint a whimsical bird scene.

Participants 12 and older are welcome. The fee is $45 for each class or $50 for day of registration. One beer, soda or glass of wine is included in the fee, and additional drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Canvas painting parties require no previous experience and all of the supplies are provided.

“This is a wonderful time of year, but it can also be stressful, and from personal experience, I know that these canvas-painting parties are super relaxing and encourage you to unplug from any worries or pressures,” said Linsey Kach, recreation programs manager. “It is hard to be anything but happy when you are creating a piece of art, and to boot, you leave with a completed and beautiful painting.”

In order to ensure that the canvas painting parties will have enough participants, registration at least two days prior to the each party is strongly encouraged. Registration is available online at http://www.friscorecreation.com.
