Two killed in rollover on Interstate 70

GENOA ” A young couple was killed and their 9-month-old boy was injured after all three were ejected from their car when it rolled twice Saturday night, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The accident happened on Interstate 70 in Genoa when the driver, 21-year-old Travis B. Carroll, lost control of his Chevrolet Venture and struck the median, going airborne, the state patrol said.

Carroll and passenger Heather L. Carroll, 19, died at the scene. Both were not wearing seatbelts.

The couple’s baby, Travis B. Carroll Jr., suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to Denver Health Medical Center, along with his grandfather 66-year-old Gary Wilson, who was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper Gilbert Mares said the family was from Wichita, Kan.

Mares said investigators do not suspect that alcohol, drugs, or speed contributed to the crash.
