Two strikes with a bat leads to jail

WILDERNEST – Summit County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman Wednesday night, charging her for allegedly twice brandishing a baseball bat at her tenants.

A Burgundy Circle couple first called for police just before 9 p.m. According to the Sheriff’s Office report, Shawna Huffsmith entered the couple’s residence, cursing and threatening them. Huffsmith was gone when the deputy first arrived.

The couple called again about one hour later, reporting that Huffsmith had returned and kicked in the door. The deputy arrested Huffsmith and confiscated the bat. Huffsmith was booked into the Summit County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary and felony menacing.

Huffsmith remained in jail Thursday with a bond set at $5,000.
