U.S. Forest Service plans to conduct controlled burn at Ruby Ranch near Silverthorne

Smoke and flames may be visible from Interstate 70, Colorado Highway 9, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon, Frisco and surrounding areas

U.S. Forest Service fire management personnel plan to conduct pile burning operations on Thursday, April 24, at Ruby Ranch, according to a news release.

Ignitions are expected to begin around 10 a.m. Smoke and flames may be visible from Interstate 70, Colorado Highway 9, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon, Frisco and surrounding areas.

The purpose of the pile burning is to help reduce fuel loading that occurred during hazard tree and wildfire hazard fuels reduction.
