FRISCO – U.S. Senate candidate Jane Norton visited Frisco Friday evening as part of a long string of campaign stops throughout Colorado. The former Colorado lieutenant governor drew a crowd of about 30 at the Boatyard, promising to fight to repeal “Obamacare” if voters send her to the U.S. Capitol.

“Nobody would have thought our country would go so left so quickly,” Norton said of the policies recently enacted by federal lawmakers. “We were the land of opportunity. Now, we’re the land of entitlement.”

Norton, a Republican, said that during her tour of Colorado people have told her they are nervous, angry and afraid for the country, given the policies promoted by President Obama and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Job creation and the economy is Norton’s No. 1 priority. She said job growth in Colorado has been hampered by over-regulation of the oil and gas industries, which have their place in the country’s energy portfolio alongside renewables.

“You can’t be for jobs and against the people who create them,” she said.

Controlling spending in Washington is also high on Norton’s list.

“We’re mortgaging (our children’s) future because of out-of-control spending,” she said.

Third among her priorities, she said, is to “keep America free, safe and sovereign.”

“We have a president who doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism,” Norton said.

Norton encouraged Tea Partiers and “9/12ers” to support her effort, saying she is excited by their success in invigorating people who have previously not been involved in politics.

“I invite you to be part of this,” she said.
