Ullr Fest design contest under way

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

BRECKENRIDGE ” The Ullr Fest Poster Contest is back for the 2009 Ullr Fest in Breckenridge, taking place Jan. 4-9. This year’s theme is “Ullr, the Snow Miner” and artwork is now being accepted. Artists can submit a sketch (painting, photograph, print, etc.) to the Breckenridge Resort Chamber (BRC) by Sept. 12. The winning artwork will appear on the 2009 Breckenridge Ullr Fest poster, merchandise, advertising and branding of the event. 2009 also marks Breckenridge’s 150th anniversary, and Ullr Fest is the first event to take place during this milestone year. Historic inspiration is encouraged.

Ullr Fest is a week-long event that pays homage to the Norse God of Snow with celebrations such as the Ullympics, the Ullr Nordic Party and Bonfire, the Ullr Dating Game and the unofficial world’s craziest parade. Sketches must be no larger than 14″ x 17.”

From the submissions, the poster winner will be chosen by a select panel of judges. Artwork can be turned in to the BRC offices located at 311 S. Ridge St. in Breckenridge or mailed to: Breckenridge Resort Chamber, Attn: Special Events, PO Box 1909, Breckenridge, CO 80424.

Once the winning artwork is selected, the winner will be required to submit final art at a poster size of 14″ x 17.” The person who submits the winning poster idea will receive a prize package of event merchandise from the BRC and his/her artwork displayed all over Breckenridge and beyond.
