3 p.m.: An SC Alert sent around 2:30 p.m. Monday stated Boreas Pass Road was closed between County Road 503 and Illinois Gulch Road until further notice. Lt. Mike Schilling of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said the closure would be brief.
Schilling said a car rolled away from its owner while he was not inside, and it went over a guardrail and down a steep embankment.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, the gentleman was not in his car and rolled away from him,” Schilling said. “No injuries, but a short road closure while it’s recovered.”
The incident happened near the Boreas Pass Road and Hummingbird Drive intersection.
Editor’s note: This story was updated to correct the status of the access to the roadway.
