BRECKENRIDGE – The Upper Blue Elementary PTA will host its second annual Evening with the Arts benefit on Thursday, May 18. The art-themed event came about as a way to connect the school with the local arts community while raising funds for the students. “We saw an opportunity to raise awareness in our local families about our incredible arts scene here in Summit County,” Karen Mason with the Upper Blue PTA said. The benefit will be held at the Lodgepole Bar and Grill in the Grand Timber Lodge in Breckenridge and will feature tapas catered by Hearthstone Catering. Mason said this year’s appetizer-styled dinner will allow for more mingling than last year’s formal sit-down dinner.

Also new this year will be artist demonstrations including Summit County Arts Council member Cecilia Eidemiller painting a portrait throughout the affair. An Eidemiller portrait will be on the silent auction block, along with hand-painted silk, handbeaded earrings and some glass pieces, all donated by Summit County Arts Council members. Mason said other items include certificates to arts and cultural events locally and in Denver. The PTA hopes to raise $7,500 for educational materials at the benefit.Tickets are $45 and must be purchased by May 10. Call (970) 453-9252 or (970) 406-0258 to attend.
