Use of accident photo questioned

Lynn Stuart, Steamboat Springs

I did not see the July 25 photo of the fatal crash on Highway 9, but I’m still furious about it.

Years ago, my wife was killed in an auto accident. Her photo did not make the front page, nor do the thousands of other victims who die every year.

I question the intention of printing such a graphic photo. Did the media print any photos of our dead soldiers covered in blood? It seems like the old days when bodies are out on display.

The lack of dignity and respect is inexcusable and deplorable. It’s hard for me to write this, as my emotions are very unsettled.

You see, many of us here in Steamboat knew the girls. They had only been here about a month. They talked about how wonderful it was and couldn’t wait to go shopping in an American outlet mall.

Now, they’re gone. Wednesday, I put their backpacks and luggage aside for shipping back to the Slovak Republic.
