Utah hunting guide pleads guilty in Colorado poaching case

CORTEZ – A Utah hunting guide has pleaded guilty to a poaching-related charge after prosecutors said he encouraged clients to shoot deer and bear without a license in southwestern Colorado.Eric Leon Butt Junior of Tooele, Utah, pleaded guilty to a federal charge of conspiring to sell illegally killed wildlife across state lines. The 34-year-old faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced May 27th.Prosecutors dropped seven other charges in exchange for the guilty plea.Cortez taxidermist Paul Ray Weyland faces charges of illegally labeling wildlife and selling it across state lines in the same case. He has pleaded not guilty.
