Vail Mountain School Home Tour returns as scholarship fundraiser

Daily News staff report

Vail Mountain School’s 33rd Annual Home Tour is featuring seven magnificent homes in the exclusive gated community of Mountain Star from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Sunday. The fundraiser is headquartered at the East Beaver Creek Parking Lot at Exit 167 on Interstate 70, and tickets can be purchased for $45 including a gourmet picnic lunch on the day of the tour. Complimentary vans will transport guests to each home. Most of Vail Mountain School’s 310 students will participate in the Home Tour by leading tours, serving picnic lunches to visitors, providing musical entertainment and selling gourmet treats at the annual bake sale. Proceeds from the Home Tour will provide a need-based scholarship fund to benefit students who attend Vail Mountain School from Eagle and Summit counties. The popularity of the Home Tour, together with student sales of raffle tickets and the generous support of brochure advertisers, enabled the school to offer more than $800,000 in scholarships to approximately 30 percent of its students this year. Vail Mountain School, located in East Vail, provides a college preparatory education to boys and girls in grades kindergarten through twelve.Advance tickets can be purchased for $40 each by calling (970) 476-3850 or visiting http://www.vms.edu; senior citizens and students with ID cards receive a special rate of $30.
