Vail Pass Winter Recreation Area Free Fee Day
The Vail Pass Winter Recreation Area will have its annual Free Fee Day on Tuesday. No fee will be charged for motorized and non-motorized recreation use at Vail Pass on Christmas Day. The ranger district reports that the trails have been groomed, and conditions are excellent.The usual fee of $6 a day per person provides maps, groomed trails, signs, marking and maintenance of routes, enforcement, parking management, visitor information and backcountry monitoring by uniformed personnel. The program is the result of many years of collaboration between the Vail Pass Task Force, a citizen’s advisory group, and the Forest Service. Together they manage the 50,000 acre area for the public’s enjoyment.Passes are available at all trailheads. Season Passes are $40 and are available at the Vail Pass Information Booth and at the Dillon and Holy Cross Ranger Districts.
