Vail Snow Daze kicks off today

VAIL – Vail Snow Daze, a party to celebrate the start of the winter season in Vail, kicks off a weeklong lineup of live music, in-town events and more today.This year’s event boasts headliner concerts from Wilco on Saturday, Michael Franti & Spearhead on Friday and The Shins with special guest Divine Fits on Thursday. All concerts will take place in Vail’s Ford Park. Tickets for Vail Snow Daze concerts are available now online at http://www.vail.com/snowdaze or in person at the Vail Village Information Center on top of the Vail Village parking structure. Single day private reserve passes for Michael Franti & Spearhead on Friday and Wilco on Saturday are sold out. Only a limited number of private reserve three-concert passes and single day private reserve passes for The Shins on Thursday remain. Private reserve passes give holders access to preferred viewing of the stage in Ford Park, complimentary food and complimentary alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. General admission three-concert passes and single-day GA tickets for all shows are still available. Ticket prices start at $29.50 for single show general admission tickets.The lineup for Vail Snow Daze is rounded out by a number of other events, both on the mountain and in town, including events to commemorate Vail’s 50th birthday:DJ Carve at Vail base areas, 9 a.m. to noon, today through Wednesday, Lionshead Base Area – Music from DJ Carve at Vail’s Lionshead base areas today through Wednesday.Premiere of “Vail: the Rise of America’s Iconic Ski Resort,” 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Friday, Vail Marriott Mountain Resort – Walk the red carpet, grab a bucket of popcorn and witness the history of Vail and its founding unfold at the premiere of a 50th anniversary film by Roger Cotton Brown, Vail’s original filmmaker. Tickets are free, but a limited number are available. Vail’s 50th birthday celebration, 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Mountain Plaza – Vail will officially celebrate its 50th year with a birthday party that features appearances from Vail dignitaries and original founders, a fireworks show and more.Demo Daze, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday, base of Gondola One – Experience product expos and learn the latest from brands like Maui Jim, Helly Hansen, Gatorade and Sprint.
