Vail’s High Noon Express lift starts turning Dec. 10
December 3, 2010
On Dec. 10, Vail pioneers Pepi and Sheika Gramshammer are slated to ride the first chair on High Noon Express to kick off the opening of Sun Down Bowl for the season.
Also known as Chair 5, the resort’s newest high-speed quad replaces a fixed-grip triple chairlift that used to take 12 minutes to haul guests to the top. The new lift ride time is six minutes, and it increases Vail’s uphill lift capacity to 59,092 people per hour. The chairlift’s opening will bring Vail’s skiable acres to 5,000 next Friday.
Complimentary cookies, hot cocoa and commemorative lapel pins are to be available for guests at the top of the lift as it opens at 9 a.m.
