View from Forest Hills

Just outside the town limits of Breckenridge is a small neighborhood which looks eye to eye with the ski area and the Ten Mile Range. Today’s featured home sits at 597 Forest Hills Drive in this spot drinking in the mountain vistas and the western sun. The five bedroom, four and a half bath home is offered at $1,999,000 and includes several gathering spaces, a two car garage and a location just a few blocks north of the downtown core.

The exterior of the home is a study in mixed media with wood and metal surfaces adding artistic elements. The drive sweeps directly off the street into the garage, with additional off street parking available. The front door is just steps away and opens into a slated mud area and entry featuring cubbies for footwear and clothing. This area also serves the garage entrance. A few stairs down lead into the Great room centered by a dry stacked stone fireplace with stone mantle which takes center stage. Banks of windows on either side drink in the view of the Breckenridge Ski Area. Floors are a rich walnut, while stained wooden beams add mountain flavor.

To the left is the dining area, flanked by a wet bar with stamped copper countertops and an embossed copper sink. Details include a Jenn Air refrigerator as well as a wine cooler, tumbled stone backsplash, and a flat screen television hidden behind the back bar mirror.

The adjoining kitchen features a two level granite countertop in butterscotch, ivory and charcoal tones. Bar seating is available. Appliances include a Viking Professional four burner stovetop with grille and griddle, warming oven, wall oven, microwave, and refrigerator. Glass doors lead out to a large deck which drinks in the southern and western sun. A convenient spot for a barbeque, this is ideally suited for afternoon Happy Hour.

Just off the kitchen is a breakfast room with windows on two sides and great views. Past it is an office with built in work area and good natural light. Also located here is a bath adorned in cocoa granite with a copper vessel sink.

A half stairway leads into the first of the two master suites. This one is carpeted and features a beautiful fireplace, excellent views and sliding doors out to a private deck. The ensuite bath has the same warm granite countertops as the kitchen with double rectangular Kohler sinks and a separate shower with Euro style doors. The floors, shower and backsplash are down in a light cappuccino-colored travertine. A laundry area sits on this level as well.

The next level down opens into the first of two spacious family rooms, each with the same spectacular view. This one features a stone fireplace and a wet bar with Jenn Air refrigerator and sink. Doors lead onto one of several patio levels, taking advantage of the topography of the land. The second master sits nearby, again with natural stone materials and double sinks., as well as a private deck, oval jetted tub and walk in closet.

The levels below features another family room or a private apartment area, again with bar area, and a second laundry. Two additional bedrooms are here, sharing a bath with tumbled travertine. There is a fifth bedroom with another tiled bath. Nearby is a wine cellar with wine cooler and custom racking system. Nearby, doors lead out to another patio with stone pavers.

Throughout the home, lovely finishes provide a nice design backdrop with darker satin finished four panel doors, excellent woodwork, and natural materials. With excellent bedroom separation, plenty of places to “escape” for a quiet time apart from a houseful of guests, and a beautiful setting, this mountain home has something for everything. Newly finished, it’s just waiting for your personal furnishings to complete its ambience.
