Visitors thank a local who assisted them out of a ditch

Marilyn and William KammererTorrance, Calif.

While on vacation in Breckenridge in the early part of May this year we had the opportunity to visit surrounding communities in your area and also picked up your well-written newspaper, the Summit Daily News, at our condo in the Valdoro Mountain Lodge. The purpose of this letter is to compliment the people who live and work in and around the Breckenridge area. It’s a welcome relief today to meet so many well-mannered and caring citizens. One person in particular, who went out of his way to help us when we were having a car problem, was Christopher Cotner of Dillon. He stopped to assist us when we couldn’t get our car out of a drainage ditch that we had backed in to unexpectedly.Although we had AAA Auto Protection Insurance, it would have taken quite a while for AAA to get to where we were. Chris and my husband quickly figured out a way to remedy the situation and by Chris simply applying his weight on the front of our car and my husband applying the gas pedal, we were free and clear of the ditch. We were so grateful to this considerate, young man who could have simply passed us up on the road. We offered to pay him for his help, however, he refused the money. We asked him for his name and he gave me his business card Upon returning home we sent Chris a “thank you” card however, that didn’t seem to be enough for his kindness. We would greatly appreciate it if you published this letter of thanks to an outstanding citizen – Christopher Cotner, Buckeye Handyman of Dillon.Thank you and we can’t wait to vacation again in your lovely area with people who really care.
