Volunteers needed for ’08 veteran recognition events

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

The Town of Dillon is seeking community-minded citizens from throughout Summit County to assist in planning Military Recognition Ceremonies for the 2009 season.

An event planning meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9 at noon at Dillon Town Hall. Those interested in serving on the planning committee are encouraged to attend.

Two events will be planned; the annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2008 and the 3rd of July Air Force Academy Band performance at the Amphitheatre (followed by a fireworks display over Lake Dillon). Both events are being planned with special recognition for our men and women who have proudly served or are currently serving. The Memorial Day Service will place special emphasis on our fallen men and women who have proudly served.

Additionally, the Town of Dillon is seeking names of men and women who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military. E-mail or mail names and contact information, current status (currently enlisted, vet, deceased) and the branch of service to Susan Fairweather at sfairweather@townofdillon.com or by mail to Town of Dillon, Attn: Susan, P.O. Box 8, Dillon, CO 80435.
