W. Gerald Bird, Jr.: Right-wing madness

W. Gerald Bird, Jr.

Our state embarrassment, Tom Tancredo, lamenting the good old days of having minorities read Chinese laundry tickets to qualify to vote a la George C. Wallace in the unenlightened days of discrimination.

His opening speech at the tea party ball is only a harbinger of more right-wing insanity to come.

The Palins – Todd and Sarah, fresh off the release of their e-mails showing they bilked Alaskan tax payers and ran a dual governorship a la the Bush/Cheney administration – giving the key note speech for six figures? Sarah just taking her Pac monies to buy her own book so she could easily convert that to cash for the family.

The tea partiers, saviors of the jobless, homeless, downtrodden et. al. 500 bucks to attend plus another $2,500 or so for lodging and travel – yeah I can see all the blue collar workers attending already.

Senator Shelby, (R-Ala.) single-handedly holding up 70 job appointments because he didn’t get his two earmarks enhancing his and the state of Alabama’s wallets.

The state congressman from Texas who openly states the way to balancing the budget is cutting all entitlements, Social Security, Medicare, S-Chip, welfare and more leaving our fate up to unfettered capitalism. Why, throw in a natural disaster and what do you have here? Haiti.

Right-wing solutions, same old same old and expecting a different result, kind of like the definition of insanity isn’t it?

We sorely need to look into the bull these guys are spreading so we don’t make more miserable choices out of fear and loathing.

The do-nothings of the right, should they gain control as the gelded, fractured Dems have, will put us from the frying pan into the fire.

We cannot afford to quickly dance to the tune of the right, we need to think deeply first.
