Wailers play free show in Vail tonight

VAIL – The 12th installment of the Vail Valley Foundation’s free concert series kicks off Wednesday with the godfathers of reggae, The Wailers. The show gets under way at 6 p.m. on the Checkpoint Charlie stage in Vail Village.

As the support band for Bob Marley, The Wailers brings its time-honored sound back to the streets of Vail, after playing to sold-out houses at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek and the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail. Some of The Wailers greatest tracks are the most memorable reggae hits ever, including “Exodus,” “Jammin,” and “Three Little Birds.”

Residents of Eagle, Summit and Lake counties can once again register at each show for the Volvo Grand Prize given away at the final concert, a new 2010 Volvo C30 T5 automobile. Cricket wireless will also be on-hand each concert with giveaways, including access to the Cricket VIP viewing area at select shows.
