Warm, sunny weather to continue through mid-week

summit daily news

SUMMIT COUNTY – Mud season has arrived.

The warm temperatures and sunshine that moved into Summit County over the weekend will likely persist through Thursday, according to John Snook of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The local area will experience some high clouds and scattered afternoon and evening showers, but highs should continue to reach into the mid-50s. Winds will pick up slightly on Thursday.

Nighttime temperatures haven’t dipped below freezing in most areas below treeline, making for a weak snowpack prone to wet slides, especially in steep areas.

Colder temperatures and some precipitation may make their way into Summit over the weekend.
