We should know sooner about senior pass price increases

My wife and I are two of the 70 and older seniors affected by the 70 percent increase in 2005-2006 senior pass rates. We have skied in Summit County for most of the ski season the past 10 years, and never got to enjoy the previously free senior skiing at Vail Resorts. Our first senior pass was the same price as the Colorado pass, which we previously bought. A letter from Vail Resorts at that time explained that it wasn’t right to subsidize one group over another, but that we were getting a bargain because we now had unlimited skiing at Vail and Beaver Creek. We no longer track our Vail/Beaver Creek days, but estimate them at 15 for last season. Fortunately, as soon as we learned of the senior pass price gouge, we were still able to renew our previous Colorado passes. However, we lost out on the bonuses (four $35 unrestricted tickets at any Vail resort with each pass), which we would have received had we renewed in the spring. No information on the change in senior pass pricing was available then.We have been trying to obtain the bonuses retroactively, but, to date, have been unsuccessful. I think all seniors who choose not to renew their senior passes should be offered the Colorado Pass with full spring bonuses. People should be able to make informed decisions at the time early purchase bonuses are available.
