Weed Warriors wanted for Saturday countywide weed pull

Many volunteers are needed to help eliminate noxious weeds from open spaces and public lands in our community at a County-wide weed pull effort on Saturday.

Education on identification of noxious weeds and effective treatments will be presented, along with opportunities to go into the field for weed eradication.

Volunteers will also be treated with snacks, beverages, and a “trail-gate” party upon completion.

The Pulling for Colorado ” Summit County Weed Pull starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, at the Community and Senior Center in Frisco.

After orientation, volunteers will head to locations like Wellington Neighborhood in Breckenridge, Piney Overlook in Dillon Valley, and Columbine Landing north of Silverthorne.

The volunteer effort is scheduled to end at 1 p.m.

Volunteers interested in pulling weeds on Saturday should plan to wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes, and gloves, and to bring water, sunscreen, a hat, insect repellent and dress for the weather.

The Pulling for Colorado ” Summit County Weed Pull effort is sponsored by several local nonprofits and government programs including Continental Divide Land Trust, Friends of Dillon Ranger District, Friends of the Lower Blue, Sierra Club, Friends of Eagles’ Nest Wilderness, and the Towns of Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne.
