Welcome Home: So remind me again, what are you waiting for?

Here we go again. Record low prices, interest near a record low. Some say it can only go up from here. I believe that thought fuels some wise investors.

Yes there will always be a lion coming over the hill but hey, tame that lion and turn it into an asset – and an incredible vacation or living opportunity for your family and friends. Heck they may even be willing to pay a small fee for the privilege of a vacation here in Summit County.

I know this for a fact and I have always reminded my children that people stand in the street and take pictures of our towns to take home and show their friends. These folks save their hard-earned dollars for a long time, in some cases to spend a few days or maybe weeks here – and YOU kid’s live here! So call your Realtor, make an appointment, find and buy that special place that will help to create memories you can cherish the rest of your life. Heck, you are probably here doing that right now. If you don’t own the property, maybe you should. You’ve worked hard this year; it’s time to reward yourself!

If cash is not readily available and you have an investment account that is not earning to your expectations, consider a self-directed IRA for the purchase of real property, loans and tax liens. This has been the avenue of many who are looking for a better long-term return.

If purchased right, one can lease the property and have it pay for some or all of the costs. As time goes on, the sale of the property should bring a return that would make an owner happy.

Google “self-directed IRA” and read for a bit then talk with a tax consultant for a reputable company before engaging with a self-directed IRA custodian.

So I guess that begs the question: Do you have a room with a view? Well, I just happen to know someone who does and quite coincidentally, it is for sale.

Stunning views (just look at that photo) from both bedrooms, the living room and decks of this two-bedroom, two-bath Lake Forest Condominium. Add a nice size garage, and well, it’s just perfect! Offered at only $339,000, Lake Forest is just across from Lake Dillon and the bike and recreation path. Close to, well everything: skiing, hiking, golf, sailing. As I mentioned before, just call your Realtor and set up a tour today. You’ll be glad you did.

Reflecting back on last weekend, what we must never forget is that whatever we do we must give thanks. For the privilege of living in this wonderful county and for the people around us that make each and every day what it is, knowing well that even on our worst day, we are so much better off then many throughout the world.

As a Rotarian working with others at the local, state and international levels, we create and sustain international projects. We promote peace, and disease prevention, develop water and sanitation systems, teach maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and help create sustainable economic and community development to many parts of our world willing to embrace and grow with the help of these basic needs. Most of this is a given in our world, and we must not take it for granted. For all of these privileges, for my family, for my life, I give thanks. It is right at the top of the list every day when I wake.
