Westbound Mountain Express Lanes begin tolls on I-70

Westbound Mountain Express Lanes on Interstate 70 begins tolling on Thursday, July 7.

The lane runs parallel to general purpose lanes from the Veterans Memorial Tunnels near Idaho Springs to Empire. For 12 miles, the lane extends on the far left and features traffic management systems to improve mobility during peak travel periods. They are only open on weekends and holidays. Using a lane when it’s closed is illegal, drivers who use them during closed periods are subject to tickets or fines.

Motorists can expect to pay $9 on Fridays and holidays, and $8 on Saturdays to use the Westbound Mountain Express Lane with an Express Toll Pass. The Pegasus shuttle, which travels from Denver to mountain communities, also uses the Mountain Express Lanes.
