What happens when youths arrive to lame scene?

Susan DeGress, Breckenridge resident, original Gen-er

Judging by the kowtowing to Vail Resorts I now see by Mayor Mamula, Jane Stebbins, Jim Pokrandt, Corry Mihm and others in the public eye, I think the town of Breckenridge is living up to its “bitch” status.

And, I haven’t seen anyone answer this question: What happens when these Gen-ers (who are really Gen-Yers, I think) arrive in Breckenridge only to find a very LAME bar scene?

I guess they’ll go back to their condos with a keg of beer and party it up. As someone who owns and occupies a townhome next door to a rental unit, I can tell you how thrilled I am about that! Thanks a lot, Roger McCarthy.

Every chance I get, I will actually be encouraging these kids to sue Vail Resorts for false advertising.

Lastly, I’d like to point out that most tourists don’t know (and don’t care about) the difference between the town of Breckenridge and Breckenridge Ski Resort. As far as they are concerned, the town is actually promoting this image of itself. For this reason, I think the ad is irresponsible.

Breckenridge Ski Resort is forcing an image on the town that most residents – judging by recent editorials and letters to the editor – don’t agree with.

The resort never allowed the town council to “preview” the ad, because resort marketing executives knew it would be rejected. Obviously, these executives didn’t care what the town thought – and they proceeded to give the residents a nice slap in the face.
