What is Silverthorne thinking?

Chris Hinderer, Summit County Libertarian

What is Silverthorne’s thinking behind the new gun control ordinance?

It appears Silverthorne plans on making future laws that warrant attack by citizens and wishes to keep them as weak as possible. This is the only reason tyrants disarm the people.

Silverthorne is bound by the Bill of Rights, at least according to the Fourteenth Amendment. This includes the Second Amendment. What part of “shall not be infringed” does Silverthorne not understand?

Forcing people to ask permission to be armed is a violation of civil rights. A right is something we own by simply drawing breath.

A privilege is something granted by a higher authority. For those who will argue that the Second Amendment is for the militia, according to the Colorado Constitution, “militia” means all males between 18 and 45.

Perhaps we should review the voting record of the Silverthorne Council. I would be interested in knowing who pushed this worthless bit of feel-good law-making.
