MLS stands for Multiple Listing System, and ours is a database full of important real estate information associated with Summit, Park and Lake counties, as well as other surrounding areas. The main job of the MLS is to function as a directory of all the properties currently listed for sale by all the area member real estate agents and companies. Only Realtors used to be able to access and use the MLS system. Now, the public can access parts of this database and view information on properties currently on the market in our area. The Summit Association of Realtors (SAR) manages our local MLS. Area real estate agents use the MLS to find properties for their clients, search the local tax base, view under contract and sold properties, e-mail property information, manage their client information, complete market analyses and execute various other tasks.

The public can access parts of the MLS system through various websites, such as the one I maintain at http://www.c21summitcounty.com. The property search function of this site will allow you to search through, and view, all the properties that are currently on the market through the Summit County MLS. You can search the site by criteria such as, type of property, location, price range, lot size, square feet and number of bedrooms and baths. The search engine will then show you detailed information for the properties that fit your criteria. You can view posted photographs for each property, print flyers and e-mail me for additional information or to set up a showing for the listings. So if you are curious to know what your neighbors listed their house for, get on the internet and check the MLS. The Summit County MLS is also a great place to start your search if you are in the market for local real estate.
