Wild Child Wilderness Club set for Monday-Friday

Take a walk on the wild side as we spend time hiking and exploring around the wild places of Breckenridge. Hikes are made to be especially kid-friendly as we will stop for trailside activities and games focused on inspiring mini-naturalists. Topics will include map and compass use, trail signs, camouflage, native animal and plant life, Leave No Trace principles and more. Along with our planned outdoor education activities, we build in time everyday for children to just play in the woods. A chance to escape from our busy schedules to experience unstructured time in nature can do wonders for a child’s social, physical and emotional development. Camp is one- week long and will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. Campers will meet at the Breckenridge rec center and will travel to various nature sites in and around Breck each day. Camp fees are $110 for each week with a 10 percent discount for BRC members. For more info, visit http://www.breckenridgerecreation.com, click on “recreation programs” then select “hiking and outdoor programs” or call (970) 453-1734. The rec center is located at 880 Airport Road.
