Snowfall is expected to continue overnight, and roads are expected to get even icier as night falls, according to National Weather Service reports. Up to 8 more inches could fall before 6 a.m., according to a winter weather advisory.

Most of the closures and delays have been related to stalled out vehicles that are not prepared for the icy conditions, according to CoTrip.org reports from throughout the day.

Original story: A winter storm has led to closures on Interstate 70 and Summit County mountain passes Friday morning.

I-70 westbound was closed between Denver and the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels early Friday due to safety concerns, according to COTrip.org. The interstate reopened shortly before 9 a.m.

Colorado Highway 9 at Hoosier Pass between Breckenridge and Alma is closed in both directions due to a stalled vehicle.

U.S. Highway 6 at Loveland Pass is also closed due to safety concerns.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Summit and Grand counties and parts of Clear Creek and Park counties. Snow accumulations will range between 4 and 12 inches in the mountains, creating snow-packed and slippery driving conditions, according to the outlook.
