Winter storm impacts: Vail Pass reopened after avalanche control work

CDOT reopened Interstate 70 around Vail Pass around 2 p.m. Monday after completing avalanche control work.

With a winter storm dumping one to two feet or more of snow Sunday and Monday around the High Country, road maintenance crews and snow plowers are busy keeping highways clear.

CDOT briefly closed the I-70 eastbound exit in Silverthorne for avalanche control Monday morning as well as the Georgetown exit westbound, with major delays reported.

Loveland Pass on Highway 6 has been closed since Sunday afternoon, and Dillon Dam Road between Frisco and Dillon has been closed since about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Montezuma Road east of Keystone closed for about 30 minutes late Sunday night after a power line fell into the road.
