Wolcott Reservoir plans outlined today

Daily Staff Writer

Interested in learning about the proposed Wolcott Reservoir? Then you’ll want to attend the Eagle River Watershed Council’s Waterwise Wednesday discussion at 5 p.m. today at the 4Eagle Ranch just north of Wolcott. The two-and-a-half-hour meeting will feature a panel of experts representing both the Front Range and Western Slope, discussing the benefits of and problems created by a proposed dam that would flood the valley from one mile north of Interstate 70. It would contain about one-third the volume of the water stored in 260,000 acre-foot Dillon Reservoir. Most of the water for the proposed reservoir would be pumped from the Eagle River during high flow months and would be released as needed to meet water demands. For more information, call the Eagle River Watershed Council at (970) 827-5406. For more information about the reservoir proposal, read about it on the Internet at http://www.crwcd.org.
