Woman dies after vehicle slides into river

ASPEN – A Roaring Fork Valley woman died after her Jeep slid off a snowpacked road into the Fryingpan River, officials said.Marci Benton was less than a quarter mile from her home when her vehicle went down the right embankment and landed in the river around 2:30 a.m. Monday, the Colorado State Patrol said.A passerby spotted her vehicle about eight hours later.Troopers said Benton drowned.The cause of the crash wasn’t immediately known.
