Zurbriggen should step down from telecommunications group

Apparently, there is a large difference between some people’s definition of conflict of interest and my own.

I was taught that any situation that may even remotely have the slightest appearance of conflict of interest must be treated as such to avoid accusations of impropriety or worse.

Denial, misdirection and omission are not the correct responses to the accusation of – or even the appearance of – conflict of interest.

I think the correct response would be for Frisco Town Councilmember Bernie Zurbriggen to step down from the Summit County Telecommunications Consortium – period.

The other board members need to educate themselves about this high-speed future they want, and they definitely need to agree on a definition of conflict of interest.

I wish to applaud the investigative reporting on this matter. This is the best I’ve read in the Summit Daily News. Keep it up. Thank you.
