Cheers and Jeers

Cheers: To Chief District Judge Terry Ruckriegle and court administrator Chris Yuhas for telling it like it is. It’s a fact, layoffs and other cutbacks in the administration of our courts have hurt at an inconvenience to the public. Ruckriegle’s concern goes deeper having seen his staff trying to cope with the Kobe Bryant case. The governor’s spokesman disavows any connection with cutbacks and service levels, but the mere denial does not make it so.Jeers: To all of the dirty, smoke-belching trash trucks, dump trucks, lumber trucks and such stinking up our roads and polluting our air. The big black clouds behind some of these vehicles are unconscionable and ever occurring.Cheers: To the organizers of the Blue River Festival coming up next weekend. Proceeds help fund another phase of streambank improvements to the Blue River in Silverthorne. The highlight event is a pairing of food and wine (and beer) 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Silverthorne Pavilion. Tickets are $35. Call (970) 262-7390.
