A Google Chrome quick tip

Today’s quick tip is for those who often find themselves using Chrome and re-opening the same tabs nearly every time they browse the Web.

I’m one of these people. No matter what I’m doing, searching for, or looking at online, I almost always have the same three additional tabs open: Google Calendar, Toodledo (my online to-do list management website), and my email program.

As another example, I have friends who always have Facebook, Twitter, and/or Gmail open.

If you find yourself re-opening the same tabs nearly every time you use Chrome, you have a fantastic feature I’ll share with you here that will bring a bit of wonderful convenience to your life.

This feature allows you to tell Chrome you want your favorite tabs to act as your “Homepage tabs.”

This means every time you open Chrome, your favorite tabs will open up automatically and immediately. That’s right; you get multiple homepages instead of just one.

Even better, the process of setting these tabs as permanent homepage tabs is extremely easy.

Here, I’ll walk you through the steps right now. Should take you less than one minute.

To set up multiple homepage tabs:

1. Open up only the tabs you’d like to have open each time you fire up Chrome.

2. Look at the top far-right of your browser and click the icon with three horizontal lines stacked on top of each other.

3. Choose “Settings” from the drop-down menu.

4. In the “On startup” section, click the option that reads “Open a specific page or set of pages” and then click the “Set pages” link.

5. A window will pop open. At the bottom of this window, click the “Use current pages” button.

6. Click OK.

And that’s it, you’re done! Nice work.

I absolutely love having my three favorite tabs open up whenever I use Chrome (which is pretty much all day long). Hope you do, too.
