Letter to the editor: Here’s my feedback on the Dillon Amphitheater
Frisco
It’s great to see the Dillon amphitheater becoming self-sufficient from a financial perspective. From a logistic perspective, the venue has quite a long way to go, in my opinion.
Parking in particular has been problematic not only for concert-goers but for other businesses in town as well. Demand pricing may help manage this problem a little, but at the end of the day, if the venue is going to host 2300 people at a show, the number of cars that equates to has been shown to outnumber available spaces. Particularly when the headliner draws a crowd that that is beyond capacity and becomes one-in, one-out.
Monday night series has been absolutely terrific as far as the shows themselves. Many thanks to the person who has lined up these shows. Free parking on these nights is greatly appreciated. Again, a better parking solution is needed.
An outlying lot with a self-shuttle could be one possibility. This could look like a drop-off zone at the venue, and an e-scooter for the driver to return to the show from the parking lot.
Before the town considers increasing the number of shows per week, the volume impacts need to be better managed.
