Letter to the editor: Plastic bags are only part of the problem

Dan Cleary

I see from other letters to the editor that some folks are up in arms about Frisco’s 25 cent tax on single-use bags. I find it troubling that product packaging seems to be a bigger issue. Has anyone ever noticed that Chipotle of all places wraps every burrito in foil but has no metal recycling (or any recycling for that matter) at any of its locations?

Just the other day, my children’s kids quesadillas came with clementines individually packed in small, plastic containers despite being in their skins.

Rather than taxing bags, we as consumers should be pressuring companies to package products more responsibly.
