Letter to the editor: Remember, some folks are struggling this holiday season

Frances McWilliams
Summit Interfaith Council

“‘Tis the season to be jolly!”

Christmas is on the way, but for some of our friends, it is not a jolly time. Grief, loneliness and struggles with mental health issues are just some things that can make it difficult to be in a mood to celebrate.

Additionally, the expectations for “the most wonderful time of the year” can be overwhelming.

Acknowledging these things, the Summit Interfaith Council, with Building Hope and Mountain High Behavioral Health, sponsored a gathering: ” Finding Light in the Darkness” on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Frisco Community and Senior Center. It was created as a quiet time when participants can engage with meditation, art, poetry, and Owen, the Therapy Dog, to find light in their darkness.
