Letter to the editor: Shooting range noise necessary for safe use of firearms

Doralee Ziomek

Noise from Summit County Public Shooting Range is unfortunate but necessary. Residents use the range thousands of times per year to practice the safe use of their firearms. The option of a controlled environment reduces the risk of injury as well as damage to the environment. Also, as I’m sure you’re aware, it’s critical that our local law enforcement stay proficient in all aspects of their job. This protects not only them but all of us. As a taxpayer, I’m horrified that we would consider spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to build sound fences or an indoor range. Our money can be better spent elsewhere in our community.
