Letter to the Editor: The National Repertory Orchestra concert was great, but the voiceover needs work
Frisco
The National Repertory Orchestra’s patriotic concert was, as always, inspiring.
Who would not be moved listening to beautiful music by talented young musicians while gazing at the Gore Range from Rainbow Park? The medley of anthems from the various branches of our military allowed us to recognize and applaud those who served.
That said, I would like to offer up a suggestion for future concerts. The voiceover recited during “America the Beautiful” needs to be updated in order to inspire. We need to honor our country’s diversity and celebrate the beauty of America while recognizing the need to protect our environment. These two themes were missing from the voice over and I heard from others in the audience that the absence was glaring.
May I suggest a school contest to rewrite the voiceover words so “America the Beautiful” can indeed inspire us?
