As the French Revolution raged, Queen Marie Antionette reportedly replied to ordinary people being unable to afford bread with, “Let them eat cake.”
In 2022, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg replied to ordinary people being unable to afford gasoline with, “Let them drive electric cars.” The creepy face of elitism really never changes, and I am struck by the parallels.
