Letter to the editor: Transforming lives using adventure in Summit County
Breckenridge
As the snow melts and we transition into another busy summer, the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center is reflecting with gratitude on an incredible winter season of adaptive skiing and snowboarding in Summit County where adventure knows no limits. Thanks to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and vital partners like Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail Resorts EpicPromise, we made skiing and snowboarding accessible to hundreds of individuals with disabilities and special needs.
But the adventure doesn’t stop with the snowmelt. Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center is already gearing up for a summer packed with adaptive rafting, rock climbing, cycling, wilderness expeditions and more. Every activity continues our mission: expanding the potential of people of all abilities through meaningful outdoor experiences.
Next year, Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center will celebrate 50 years of transforming lives through outdoor adventure. A milestone we can’t wait to share with the community that has supported us every step of the way. As we look ahead, we are committed to expanding access, breaking barriers, and welcoming even more individuals to life-changing outdoor experiences.
We are deeply grateful to our participants, supporters, and partners who help make this vision possible. Here’s to new adventures, new milestones and a future filled with possibilities. Adventure changes lives. Join us at as we embark on the next 50 years. Learn more or get involved at BOEC.org.

The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.
